RATS is a play written by Ian Cragg @iancragg
In this scene, the simmering frustration of Tommy and Sheila boils over: Tommy has not worked since an industrial accident some years ago, a situation he exploits to the maximum. He is happy with his life of daytime TV and with wife Sheila fetching and carrying for him. He is an old-fashioned husband in the worst sense of the word, believing that his word is law. Life for Sheila is one of unrelenting drudgery, until Alan moves in next door.

In this world, individuals with brunette hair are selected for farming — a premise designed to push audiences to question: Would you consume another human if society permitted it?

Our December event showcased a short extract from a Feature Film called "Matey" written by Liam O'Brien @liam_obrien_creative. This is a script about working class Liverpool life. We meet Tony, a Father who is balancing exhaustion, trauma, loyalty and love in a world that keeps asking him for more than he can give. Through him we explore addiction, parent-child attachments, the hidden realities of caring for a disabled child and the quiet ways men are taught to bury their emotions until they break. Thanks to all the creatives involved and @gabby.borsos for recording the event!
Director: Lewis Bray @fumeactinglab
